Image Bearers – Reclaiming Our Identity

Happy New Year 2026, and thank God for the grace to welcome in a new year!

I know – it’s been ages, but I’m thrilled to be back here with you 😊.

Our last post posed a series of questions (Who am I? What am I? Why am I here?) which, on one hand, explore the meaning of life, and on the other, point to our understanding of who we are – aka Identity.

Who are we, really? What is our true purpose? Why were we deemed valuable enough to be created?

The creation account in Genesis 1: 20-28 covers the emergence of several living creatures. And though God calls all these creatures blessed, He made only human beings in His image. And only humans did He give dominion over the others.

In Psalm 82: 6, the psalmist describes humanity as ‘gods,’ yet in the very next verse declares that we would die like ‘men.’

Why should glorious beings, fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, die like mere men?

Maybe because we’re not living in the fullness of our identity? Especially if that identity is under assault by the enemy of our souls, desperate to blind us to the glorious inheritance we have in Christ.

If that’s true, what would it take to reclaim our identity? To fulfill the high purpose of our calling? Not to die like mere men?

This is what I’ve been pondering this year. Join me as we embark on a series that examines heroes of our faith; trailblazers who have gone before, leaving behind a witness that leads us to the truth we seek.

Be blessed!

  1. Remi,

This sounds wonderful! I’m looking forward to your posts. I think this is a theme the Lord is leading many of us to in this season. My new brand is beloved and becoming. It’s all about identity. Maybe we could collaborate one day. Let’s be praying about it!

    Blessings,

    Andy
