Happy New Year 2022 and thank God for the grace to welcome in a new year!
As we rejoice in the gift of life, we recognize that 2022 dawned with myriad challenges and concerns on the global horizon. As Jesus put it in Matthew 24:6-8, we hear of wars and rumors of wars, nations rising against one another and people tearing one another apart. There are famines and earthquakes and extreme weather events in various places. Yet, Jesus cautioned us not to be alarmed, because while such things must happen, the end is still to come. All these concerning events represent only the beginning of birth pains.
I don’t know about you, but looking around and realizing that all this is just the beginning doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. What can we do when all we want is healing?
Lord, Heal Our Land
Over the past couple of years, we’ve raised several prayers for the healing of our land on this platform. Recently, God has brought to mind His specific prerequisites for such healing.
2 Chronicles 7:14 states, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
If My People
If my people…what would happen if all God’s people laid aside differences in political ideology and doctrinal issues to jointly humble ourselves in God’s sight?
If my people…What would God do if we prayed and sought His face in unity, refraining from activities which do not honor Him?
If His people did all that, God said He would hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land.
We know it is impossible for God to lie. Can we take Him at His word and purpose to humble ourselves, pray and seek Him? This is my personal challenge for 2022. I hope you will join me.
