Musings for Comfort

Comfort

Psalm 34: 18-20 – “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.  He guards all his bones, not one of them is broken.”

John 16:33 – “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you wiall have trouble, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Expecting to live trouble/trial free as a Christian is like expecting to avoid math as an accountant.  It is there as a constant reality that must be faced and acknowledged.  But not all is loss and despair; we have a Firm Anchor, a Refuge, a Deliverer, a Savior who hides, keeps and sees us through – for He has overcome the world (Halleluyah)!

But we must learn to be patient, to rest and trust in Him, waiting while He perfectly works together for good all that concerns us – even as He turns around everything meant for evil by the enemy of our souls.

“Though [we] fall, [we] shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds [us] with His hand.” Psalm 37:24

There is no-one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you, And in His excellency on the clouds.  The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, ‘Destroy!’” Deuteronomy 33:26-27

What a Father!  What an Advocate!  Lord, help us to trust in Your unfailing, matchless love for us – Amen.

Be blessed,

R
